The Short Answer
Our top pick is Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort. Its Family Suites sleep up to six with two queen beds and a pull-out sofa in 430 square feet, with a kitchenette, and guests get Early Park Admission plus walking paths and shuttles to the parks.
- Kids' own space: Universal's Aventura Hotel has a 575-square-foot Kids' Suite that sleeps five, with two twins in a separate kids' area.
- Skip the lines: Loews Royal Pacific, Hard Rock Hotel and Loews Portofino Bay include free Universal Express Unlimited at the two original parks, and list their two-queen rooms at a maximum of five.
- Two bedrooms for less: Universal's Endless Summer Resort (Dockside and Surfside) has two-bedroom suites for six with a kitchenette.
The rooms we checked at Universal's three newest hotels, Terra Luna, Stella Nova and Helios Grand, sleep up to four, so they aren't on this list. If you're also doing Disney, see our Disney World guide.

Rules and Fees for Five at Universal
- Rollaways: Hard Rock Hotel and Loews Sapphire Falls say a maximum-occupancy booking may need a rollaway at an extra fee, and only one rollaway is allowed per room. If the fifth guest is older than a toddler, a kids' suite or family suite is more comfortable than a two-queen room.
- Parking: self-parking is charged at Cabana Bay, Dockside, Hard Rock, Sapphire Falls and Portofino Bay, and it costs more at the Loews-run hotels than at Cabana Bay and Dockside.
- Volcano Bay: Universal's water park closed for the season on October 26, 2026, and is expected to reopen on or before April 1, 2027.
- Babies: rules differ by hotel, and most room pages don't say whether a crib counts toward the maximum. Ask the hotel before you book, and see our guide to what "sleeps 5" means for the other common catches.
- Other chains: Loews isn't the only brand with a rule for five. Our hotel chains guide compares Drury, Hilton, Westgate and others.
Getting to Universal Orlando Hotels
- From Orlando International Airport (MCO): about 30 to 45 minutes by car to the Universal hotels, and 25 to 40 minutes to South International Drive.
- To the parks: Cabana Bay and Aventura have walking paths and shuttles; Sapphire Falls has a water taxi and shuttle; Dockside and Surfside rely on free shuttles.
- To Disney: Lake Buena Vista is about 20 to 35 minutes by car from Universal, depending on traffic. Our Disney World guide covers hotels on that side.
