The Short Answer
Our top pick is the Walt Disney World Dolphin, between Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios. Its rooms are set for two adults and three children, so a family of five fits in one room with two double beds, and Disney gives Dolphin guests 30-minute Early Theme Park Entry. Book the Dolphin, not the Swan next door, which is listed for four.
- Want a bedroom door: Drury Plaza Hotel Orlando, by Disney Springs, has deluxe two-room suites with a pull-out queen sofa, and Drury allows up to six in a suite. It also has Early Entry. Drury's rule for five is one reason it tops our hotel chains guide.
- Want a full suite: Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace and DoubleTree Suites by Hilton, both in the Disney Springs hotel area, have one-bedroom suites with two queens and a sofa bed that sleep six, with Early Entry.
- On a budget: Lake Buena Vista Resort Village has 1,080-square-foot two-bedroom, two-bath suites for up to six and a free shuttle to the four Disney parks, but no Early Entry.
Most of Disney's own resort hotels don't have Booking.com pages, so they aren't listed here. If you're also going to Universal, see our Universal Orlando guide.
Disney World's Hotel Areas Compared
| Area | Our hotels | Best for | Early Entry |
|---|---|---|---|
| Epcot Resort Area | Dolphin | Epcot and Hollywood Studios | Yes |
| Disney Springs hotels | Drury Plaza, Buena Vista Palace, DoubleTree Suites | Suites with a sofa bed | Yes |
| Lake Buena Vista, off-site | LBV Resort Village | Two-bedroom suites for less | No |
| Kissimmee | Margaritaville Resort | Cottages and a water park | No |
| South International Drive | Floridays | Disney plus Universal | No |
"Early Entry" means the hotel is on Disney's list for 30-minute Early Theme Park Entry. Disney says the benefit will continue through 2027.

What to Check Before You Book
- The room type, not just the hotel. At DoubleTree Suites only the 2 Queens 1 Bedroom Suite sleeps six; its other suites sleep four. At the Swan and Dolphin, only the Dolphin's rooms take five.
- The fifth bed. The Dolphin's rooms have two double beds, or a king with a sofa bed, and a rollaway is available. With older kids, a suite with a sofa bed or a two-bedroom unit is more comfortable.
- Babies and cribs. Occupancy rules differ by hotel and room, and most official room pages don't say whether a crib counts. Ask the hotel before you book if a baby will sleep in a crib. Our guide to what "sleeps 5" means covers the other common catches.
- Fees. Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace and DoubleTree Suites charge a resort fee on top of the room rate.
Getting to Disney World Hotels
- From Orlando International Airport (MCO): about 30 to 45 minutes by car to Lake Buena Vista and the Disney Springs hotels, and 35 to 50 minutes to Kissimmee on US 192.
- South International Drive: about 25 to 40 minutes from the airport, and a short drive to both Disney and Universal.
- Disney to Universal: about 20 to 35 minutes by car from Lake Buena Vista, depending on traffic. Our Universal Orlando guide covers the hotels on that side.
- Park shuttles: Lake Buena Vista Resort Village runs a free shuttle to all four Disney parks; at the other off-site hotels, plan on driving.
