What to Check Before You Book
- Age limits on the fifth guest. Radio City Apartments' one-bedroom takes four guests plus one child 12 or under, and its two-bedroom takes five plus one child.
- Rollaways and extra beds. Hotel Beacon charges extra for a rollaway, so ask when you book; The Langham offers an extra bed on request.
- Book the right room type. Belleclaire's Deluxe 2 Queen rooms sleep four, and so do the Shelburne Sonesta's studios; only the family suite and two-bedroom apartments take more.
- Babies and cribs. Hotels count infants differently, and most room pages don't say. Ask before you book if a baby will sleep in a crib. Our guide to what "sleeps 5" means covers the other common catches.
- Chains. Loews also runs four of the hotels in our Universal Orlando guide, and our hotel chains guide compares how brands handle five.
Getting to Manhattan from the Airports
- From JFK: about 35 to 75 minutes by car to Midtown, and a little longer to the Upper West Side, depending on traffic.
- From LaGuardia (LGA): about 25 to 45 minutes by car to Midtown or the Upper West Side.
- With five and luggage: a standard sedan may be a squeeze, so consider booking a larger car in advance.
